Campaigns

From WomSend Wiki

This is the place where you can schedule a message to be sent on a certain date to subscribers belonging to certain lists.

From here you will also be able to view detailed reports about how many messages were delivered, how many bounced, how many wee opened and how many times links in those messages were clicked.

Any campaign will have a name, a type and a status. Depending on campaign type you will be able to assign a status or different properties as well as a message to be sent from the campaign.

Campaign Types

Newsletter

This is the basic newsletter campaign, you set a name for it, select a message and a date when you want the system to send it. Set the status on "Scheduled" and pick a date when you want it to be sent. You can select one or more subscriber lists and the campaign will be sent to each subscriber in each list.

Autoresponders

An autoreposnder is a campaign that is sent by the system after a certain event occurs. We have different types of autoresponders depending on the event that triggers them. An autoresponder can have an Active or Inactive status. The system will only process the Active ones.

Here are the Autoresponder types:

After Subscription

With this autoreposnder the system will send the message X ( Hours, Days, Weeks or Months ) after someone subscribes.

This is a special type of autoresponder because it can only send confirmation messages and only the unconfirmed subscribers will get these messages.

Although you are able to select Hours or 0 Days for the Time Units the system will not send a confirmation message to a subscriber unless at least 3 days have passed since he/she was sent the previous confirmation message and he/she didn't receive more then 2 previous confirmation messages.

After Confirmation

This is the most common type of autoresponder. Your subscribers can get an email X hours, days, weeks or months after they confirm their subscription.

After Open

With this autoresponder you can schedule a new message after they open a message sent in a previous Campaign. After you select this type of autoresponder you will be able to pick a campaign from a list of previously sent Campaigns

After Click

Here you can schedule a new message after they click a link from a message sent in a previous campaigns. You can select the campaign and the clicked links from a list. If any subscriber clicked one of those links from the selected campaigns then they will get the message assigned to this autoreponder.

Confirmation

NOT IMPLEMENTED YET

With this campaign you will be able to send confirmation messages to subscribers imported through the import interface. Set the status on "Scheduled" and pick a date when you want it to be sent.

Tracking

The system will automatically track subscriber actions if a few conditions are met:

  • for open tracking the message sent must have a html part
  • the html part must contain an image ( img html tag ) with the src attribute set to {OPEN_TRACK_LINK}

Clicks are automatically tracked by replacing the links ( in both the html and text part ) with unique links on womsend.com server. When someone clicks on these links the system will record the click and then redirect to the original link.

Any unsubscribe, complaint or message bounce is automatically processed and the subscriber is marked in the system so it will not get future messages. See also: Lists#Subscribing to lists

Reports

In the list of campaigns there is a "graph" like icon for each campaign. By clicking this you will see some basic reports. Right now the system shows the number of messages sent, the number of messages opened, number of messages where the subscriber clicked at least one link, number of messages that bounced and the number of subscribers that complained about your messages ( clicked the "spam" button in webmail systems like yahoo, aol, hotmail

Here are some more details about what the numbers mean:

  • The "Sent" bar shows the number of subscribers that matched the campaign selection criteria ( Lists/Segements ).
  • The "Opened" bar shows the number of messages that were successfully tracked as opened. The actual number could be higher because

not all subscribers will enable "remote image loading" in their email client and not all will view their message in html. The opened number is calculated as the sum of number of messages that were tracked with the help of the tracking image and number of messages that were clicked but not successfully tracked as opened ( if they clicked a link in the message they must have opened it )

  • The "Bounces" bar show the total number of addresses where the message could not be delivered. Some of them are hard bounces like "non existent user" and some of them are soft bounces like "temporary problems on recipient's server"
  • The "Unsubscribes" bar shows the total number of subscribers that unsubscribed using the link this campaign campaign.
  • The "Complained" bar shows the total number of subscribers that clicked the "spam" button in a email provider like yahoo, aol, hotmail and a few others.
